Sunken Garden - overall plan
Citra Towers Kemayoran, Jakarta

Designed as an oasis in the city, the Kemayoran Office Tower provides a pleasant refuge from the heat and bustle of Jakarta's streets

Over the centuries, residents of lowland Jakarta have fled to the leafy hills of Bogor, Puncak and Bandung to escape the heat and congestion of the city. The landscape design for the Kemayroran Office Tower is inspired by the lush shade, waterfalls and ancient rocks of these upland retreats. The focus of the project is a sunken garden, where shady walks and dining terraces are surrounded by an atmosphere of ferns, falling water, mist and stones. This is a comfortable, beautiful space for informal dining, relaxing and meeting friends. the metaphor of a forest surrounding a mountain spring continues on the ground floor, where groups of trees provide shade, enclosure and a connection to the wider Kemorayan Green Belt in this part of Jakarta. the trees are carefully sited to frame views to the retail sites so that visitors are orientated and guided into the site.
