Sculpture Park, Bandung.

A carefully composed formal landscape of axial paths, reflecting pools and framed views which is designed as a setting for dramatic stone sculptures by Nyoman Nuarta.

This dramatic sculpture park is for Studio Nyoman Nuarta, one of Indonesia's foremost sculptors. The sculptures are sited within a formal landscape structured by axial paths, tree lined avenues and tranquil pools. The park provides a dynamic but ordered sequence of spaces. Some sculptures are framed as a focus for long vistas; others are discovered in smaller courtyards. All are carefully sited within a landscape which is designed to reveal their individual character. Stone from local quarries is used as a defining feature for paths and furniture throughout the park which also includes a stone carving workshop where visitors can watch the sculptors at work. The sculpture park features past works by Nyoman Nuarta, as well as the 70m tall Garuda Wisnu Kencana sculpture, which is intended for Bali.
